FAQ

How do I know whether I need a financial planner?

The fact that you are wondering is a good reason to schedule a no-cost noobligation introductory appointment either via Zoom or in person.

What will this cost me?

For the intro appointment? Nothing! If we determine a plan makes sense, we have a fixed price schedule:
• Single person: $2,500
• Couple/family: $3,500
• Private business: $5,500
• These plans include quarterly reviews, phone calls, and meetings after the plan is complete for the following year.

How does the financial planning process work?

After our introductory appointment, I send you a summary of what we discussed, what tasks and analysis I will complete and also what will be required of you to complete the planning process. When you approve the arrangement. You make payment and off we go!

Wait, you want me to pay in advance?

Yes, but not to worry. I have a 100% money-back guarantee: if you are not satisfied, I refund the fee.

What goes into a financial plan?

I’m not weaseling out when I say, “It depends.” Planning for college education, retirement, starting a business, starting a family, there are common financial issues among them but there can be different strategies developed for each. Good news: We’ll cover them all!

Should I convert my regular IRA to a Roth IRA?

Again, “It depends”. (Sorry!) While converting can be a great idea, financial decisions made in isolation can lead to bad outcomes. The best approach is to see how well a conversion will move you closer to your ultimate financial goal rather than doing it because what it might accomplish on its own.

Do I need Life Insurance?

The primary use of life insurance is to replace the income that others rely on if a person falls to premature death. Will someone be put into a bad financial situation if your income is no longer coming into the household? Then life insurance should be part of the discussion with a financial planner.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes.

What is a fiduciary, anyway?

A financial planner who is a fiduciary is REQUIRED to place the best interests of the client ahead of his/her own…even if they are counter to the planner’s interests. In other words, you come first…period.

How do I check up on a financial planner’s record?

You can go to https://brokercheck.finra.org/ and search for the planner by name. You will see all the licenses the planner holds, their affiliation history with financial firms, and any disciplinary items.

Do you have an online portal?

We do and it is integral to our financial planning process and the ongoing support of our clients. You can access your accounts at any time from any web browser. We also upload your statements and tax documents to the system. It is secure and we can send you the security protocols for your review.

Are you a CFP©?

Yes, I hold the Certified Financial Planning Practitioner (CFP©) designation. I am also a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC©) and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP©).

How long have you been doing this?

I started my practice in early 1994.
